Trust & Safety: Our Professional Commitment

Transparency is at the heart of The Critter Keeper LLC. We believe that professional pet care should come with professional protection. Because we treat your home and pets with the same level of care, we give our own, we have invested in a comprehensive insurance and bonding portfolio through PetCare Insurance.

1. General Liability & Property Protection

We maintain a comprehensive Commercial General Liability policy to protect your home and assets during every visit.

  • Liability Limit: $1,000,000.00 per occurrence.

  • Broadened Property Damage: Up to $10,000.00.

  • Lost Key Liability: $2,000.00 to ensure your home remains secure.

2. Specialized Pet Care & Medical Support

Our policy includes specific provisions for the animals in our "care, custody, or control."

  • Animal Bailee Coverage: Up to $5,000.00 for accidental injury to a pet.

  • Veterinarian Expense Reimbursement: Up to $1,000.00 per occurrence.

  • Medical Priority: This ensures your pet receives immediate medical attention if an accident occurs. (Note: A $250 deductible applies to veterinary reimbursements).

3. Professional Bonding

Your trust is our most important asset. The Critter Keeper LLC is fully bonded for up to $10,000.00 per occurrence through an Employee Dishonesty Provision.

  • All services are performed by either, Spencer (the owner) or Sam an authorized member of The Critter Keeper LLC, who is a fully insured member of our professional Duo.

4. Advanced Clinical Expertise

While we are dedicated pet sitters, our care is informed by a professional veterinary perspective.

  • Veterinary Education: Spencer is currently a Veterinary Technology student at Penn Foster College, focusing on advanced pharmacology, anatomy, and emergency triage.

  • Clinical Insight: This academic training allows us to move beyond basic pet sitting to provide specialized medical support, such as identifying early signs of illness, managing chronic conditions, and administering professional-grade treatments under your vet's guidance.

Clinical Safety & Bio-Security Protocols

While insurance provides financial peace of mind, our daily safety protocols provide physical protection for your pets and your home. We follow hospital-grade standards to ensure every environment remains healthy.

  • Bio-Security & Sanitization: To prevent the transmission of avian or reptilian pathogens between households, we utilize strict hand-sanitization and shoe-disinfecting protocols. For medically fragile or immunocompromised patients, we utilize site-specific attire as required.

  • Double-Entry Safety: We implement a "Two-Door" rule for all high-flight-risk species (including birds and flighty cats) to ensure no pet has direct access to an open exit during our entry or departure.

  • Environmental Hazard Sweeps: Every visit begins with a "Safety Sweep" of the home to identify potential risks, such as chewed electrical cords, temperature fluctuations in enclosures, or breached security points.

  • Secure Key Management: Client keys are never labeled with identifying names or addresses. As a registered entity with the City of Portland, we maintain strict custody of your property, storing keys in a dual-authenticated secure lockbox when not in use.
